our responsibility to ensure that it is protected. We are providing you with
this statement to tell you how we safeguard information you give us and inform
you of how we use this information. This policy applies to any information you
give us through any of the online forms or email communication opportunities
provided on this site.
We do not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to third
parties.
We distribute personally identifiable information about you within the ABWE
family of ministries only to the extent necessary to fulfill the purpose(s) for
which you have provided the information. For example, if you request specific
information to be sent to you or you order resources, we will provide the
appropriate information such as your name and address to the department
fulfilling your request.
At the time you fill out an online form or send us an email, you are provided
with an opportunity to tell us regular information which you wish to receive. We
are likely to send you information about ABWE or its ministries by mail or
email, but will respect any request to stop receiving this information at any
time, and all regular email communications include an opportunity to opt out of
receiving further broadcast email.
ABWE provides opportunities for credit card transactions, and voluntarily
provides below more detailed information such as is required from commercial
sites about our privacy procedures.
Information Collected
Personally identifiable information that you disclose depends on what you are
requesting. It may include credit card information to process your request for
resources or to make a donation, information needed for one of our departments
to process your request for information such as opportunities for missionary or
volunteer service or giving opportunities, both current and deferred through
specialized contractual arrangements (gift annuities, trusts, etc.), information
you supply when completing a survey or evaluation, and information you supply
when contacting donor services, church relations or other "customer service"
representative.
You are not required to answer any question or provide any information
requested, and can decline to the exchange of your information within the ABWE
family of ministries at any time. However, if you choose to withhold requested
information, especially items shown as "required" in a form, we may not be able
to provide you with some of the resources or services which are dependent on
this information, or to process your request.
When you surf the Internet, your browser automatically transmits some
information to us each time you access content on our site. We use this data for
evaluating the usefulness of site information, and not to promote third party
products or strategies.
As a matter of policy, ABWE does not knowingly collect personally identifiable
information from anyone under the age of 13 without verifiable permission from a
parent or guardian.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to fulfill your request for information or services. In
doing so, we add it to our mailing list and, if we have an email address, to our
email list. It is our practice to send those on our list a complimentary
subscription to our quarterly publication, the MESSAGE. This informative
magazine contains missionary reports, challenging articles about missions
subjects, a pastor's page, children's page, and other material relevant to our
purposes as a missionary sending agency proclaiming the gospel throughout the
world. Those on the email list receive periodic broadcast emails with news or
information about ABWE ministries or services, or about opportunities for
specialized missions resources made available to our constituents in exchange
for suggested donations. Every such email includes an opportunity to opt out of
future communications.
ABWE does not do regular "crisis appeals," but we send occasional mailings to
those on our list, inviting them to participate in an important missionary
project or informing them of real emergencies they may prayerfully wish to help
with. Those on our list who contribute to our ministry may get additional
appeals related to the ministries in which they have an interest. We honor all
requests to discontinue such appeals. At no time do we sell or rent our
information or supply it to third parties, whether commercial or ministry
entities. When it is made available to a missionary or other employee of ABWE,
it is only for an approved mission purpose, and our employees are reminded not
to retain or pass on this information for any purpose whatever. Our employees
are subject to a corporate code of ethics and other policies that require
maintaining the confidentiality of your information. We also maintain prudent
security standards and procedures to protect against unauthorized access or use
of your personal information and records, including a system of password
protection and physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with
federal guidelines.
If you initiate a relationship with an ABWE missionary or department, they will
be given access to your information for their ministry purposes. Again, they are
expected to limit their use to these purposes and have no permission to pass it
on to third parties.
